Wichita, KS 1983

Michael Griffin escapes from an actual public hanging for the first time in US history. Tied with his hands behind his back by the Sheriff of Sedwick County, a regulation 13 knot hangman's noose fitted around his neck and perched up on the back of a live horse with just seconds before the animal takes off leaving Griffin swinging from the gallows.

Michael escaped just seconds before passing out becoming the only human to ever survive an actual public hanging.
